Slim Down the SouthMark November 9th on your calendar and plan to attend Louie’s Kids’ third annual Slim Down the South Celebrity Softball Challenge. This fundraising event will be held at Joe Riley Park and will feature a host of celebrity players and coaches that will be announced soon. Event sponsors include title sponsor Southwest Airlines and team sponsors REV Restaurant Group and Wells Fargo.

In the past, Slim Down the South has featured teams made up of well-known celebrities and athletes coached by actor and comedian Bill Murray, and singer-songwriter Darius Rucker. College of Charleston Women’s Basketball Head Coach Natasha Adair played on Murray’s team during the 2012 game and here’s a video of her experience.

Check the list below of celebrities for this year’s event.

“This year’s event will be bigger and better than before and I’m excited Southwest gets to be a part of the fun,” said Louis Yuhasz, founder of Louie’s Kids. “With a lineup of big-name celebrities to round out the teams, each sponsored by REV Restaurant Group and Wells Fargo, a dedicated kid’s area during the game, and fun antics during and between innings, this year’s event is sure to be a grand slam.”

Money raised benefits Louie’s Kids, a national nonprofit that helps treat childhood obesity, as well as promotes a healthier, more productive life through programs like RunBuddies.
