Local Celebrity Chefs Join Louie’s Kids to Combat Childhood Obesity
10th Annual Little Chef, Big Chef fundraising event at McCrady’s Tavern
Four of Charleston’s most celebrated chefs partner with local children from the Louie’s Kids program to host the 10th Annual Little Chef, Big Chef fundraiser. The event – presented this year by US Foods, with master chef sponsors Ooh Events, Curated Selections and Goose Island Beer – will be held on June 13, from 7 – 10 p.m., at McCrady’s Tavern in historic downtown Charleston. Proceeds from the event benefit Louie’s Kids.
The event’s guests will be treated to an evening of culinary delight spearheaded by this year’s host chef, Travis Grimes of Husk. In addition to Travis, the roster of talented chefs includes: Michelle Weaver of Charleston Grill, Jason Stanhope of FIG and Katy Keefe of McCrady’s/McCrady’s Tavern. The evening includes four courses, prepared by the all-star chefs and their partnering little chefs. Each course will be accompanied by a wine and beer pairing compliments of the evening’s sponsors.
“One of our primary responsibilities as industry leaders is to share our knowledge and experiences with young aspiring individuals, so they can make their own path to do better than we did, which is exactly what this event and organization accomplishes,” said David Howard, President of Neighborhood Dining Group.
Louis Yuhasz, founder of Louie’s Kids, has seen firsthand how impactful the Little Chef, Big Chef event is to the children in his organization. “We are overjoyed to mark our tenth year putting on Little Chef, Big Chef. A lot has changed in the decade since we launched this event, but one thing has remained constant year after year. Everyone involved, the kids and the chefs, leave fundamentally changed for the better.”
“This year we have another hardworking group of kids who, along with their families, have been dedicated to adopting a healthier lifestyle,” continued Yuhasz. “We’re excited for this year’s attendees to come together for a good cause while enjoying a special menu from top Chefs and some inspiring kids.”
