Have you heard that before? Well it’s true! What you put into your body is what fuels it. The more processed, sugary, salty foods we put into our mouths, the more fat storage and the higher our cholesterol will be among many other negative effects. But if we instead choose to select nutrient dense foods such as baked chicken, fruits, vegetables, and yogurt for example, we are instead fueling our body with healthy and nutritious foods which allow our bodies to perform at their peak. Dieting can be overwhelming in the beginning. Calories, serving sizes, fat grams…. so many numbers! You don’t know where to begin. But it is first important to choose healthier foods than the ones you are currently eating. If you want to grab a candy bar on the go, why not grab a banana instead? Fruit is fast food too! Instead of your morning coffee loaded with whip cream and sugar, try a cup of green tea with Splenda or Truvia. Simple choices such as these can make huge differences if done every day. Remember, a pound is 3,500 calories. If you eat more than your body needs, these pounds develop very quickly and can cause us to be obese. So remember…. choose healthier foods because you are what you eat!
